Duplix is a batch duplication utility for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux. The Duplix utility quickly duplicates files and folders using numeric or custom naming. The numeric naming option allows the user to set a range of values and includes a “minimum digits” setting which can automatically add zeroes to the file names to maintain alphabetical sorting for the duplicated files. The custom naming option allows the user to type or paste in a series of names for the duplicated files. The custom names can be separated by commas, spaces, or line breaks. Both numeric and custom naming options allow for a prefix and suffix for the duplicated file names, and even allow the user to alter the file extension if needed. Existing files can be preserved or overwritten by duplicates depending on the option selected. The user can also choose to delete the original file or folder after duplication if desired.

3 Cool Text Effect Extensions Click on the Text Effect 1,2,etc. links on the left and scroll down to the download link to get the .mxp extension installers for these text effects. They work pretty much like a pre-made motion preset; you just need to make a movie clip with some text inside, then go Command>Text Effect 1 (or 2 ,3, or 4). This extension will automatically create the tween and keyframe the animation for you. Note: Text Effect 2 apparently does not work in Flash CS4, but the other three do.

MotionSketch, I had the idea when Flash CS4 came out to create a tool that recorded drawing in real-time and created a tween based on that drawing. Because of the slick new object-tween in Flash CS4, the tween could be created with just a start and end keyframe, but at the same time, the motion path could be incredibly complex. Additionally, all of the timing could be stored within a single easing curve. The resulting tween would be super clean and super editable. So I was fairly disappointed to find out that none of this new functionality had been included in the  JSFL (extensibility) API when Flash CS4 came out. After a lot of digging behind the scenes in the Flash application, as well as a very useful article and helpful correspondence from Flash engineer John Mayhew,  I came up with a way to accomplish this extension. I will cover the somewhat daunting technical details of this process in a future another post (UPDATE: technical post now available). For now, enjoy the extension!

Queasy Tools Panel v1.5.0  This gives you an extra panel with shortcuts for common tasks. You can see what all the buttons do from the screenshot. The only problem is that the tool tip text gets covered up by the mouse pointer. Not a big deal, as it’s obvious what the buttons do by the icons.

Smart Curve Smart curve offers a fast, simple way of drawing curves in Flash; 1. Click a start point. 2. Click an end point. 3. Move the mouse to affect the curvature. 4. When you find a shape you like, click again to create the curve. I have also included SmartCurve2 which offers greater precision \ flexibility via an extra control point.
